Gentlemen,

I'm feeling a bit puzzled right now. There seem to be several versions of pinouts online regarding the RJ45 to PL connection. So far I have tried the one presented here in this forum by Keith (January 12th 2011) and another one presumably provided by B&O (see attachments below).

Strangely enough neither has provided a working solution so far. I have tried to connect a pair of BL3's to a BeoPlay V1. I have tried every PL socket and tried different speaker options (groups and connections) as well on the TV as on the speakers. Both work fine individually, so I assume the problem lies within the cable and its connections. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Kammeri,

The best option is always to buy the correct ready made cables from a reputable supplier and not to try to make these at home (although I would say that of course!) Whistle

Powerlink to RJ45 cables do need to be correctly wired and assembled to prevent noise entering the audio channels, particularly when using newer ICE Power speakers which rely on the cabling to provide a voltage reference for the digital amplifiers.

Speaking as a cable manufacturer, I have put a lot of development work into getting my Powerlink to RJ45 cables correct for all combinations of source and speakers: http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-rj45pl-long.htm

Hence, I hope that you will forgive me if I don't post all the details of my development work online! Smile

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

The connections in your diagram labelled "RJ45 1" (the 2nd of your two links) is correct for connecting a TV with RJ45 outputs to a speaker with DIN powerlink sockets so I'm not sure why this didn't work for you as I have made cables to this pinout for connecting a pair of BL6000s to a V1.

It's probably worth you double checking the cable you have made.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Replying to an old post here: I followed the instructions from the second link, using a cat6 cable with a 8din plug. I want to connect my playmaker to a ML/MCL converter with CX speakers, but the amp does not switch on. Is playmaker using a different PL plug?

Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona  / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.

Hi MLBeo,

All newer B&O audio systems and TVs with RJ45 Powerlink sockets have a slight wiring difference when compared to older DIN systems, which prevents them from correctly controlling Beolink Passive, MCL2P or ML/MCL converters.  A specially wired cable is needed for PlayMaker, Essence, S8 Hub, Avant and all other products with RJ45 outputs when using these older amplifiers:-
