Has anyone had experience with Control4 with the MasterLink Gateway? I see that there are drivers on the B&O website. Do you somehow have to get the drivers installed on the MLGW to see Control4 in the list of devices for programming?
My goal is to control my Philips Hue lighting system via the MLGW. While KNX is appealing, KNX seems to be unheard of in the U.S - even among B&O dealers. Control 4 now has a driver for the Philips Hue.
Ideally, I would like to be able to control my Philips Hue bridge directly from the MLGW. However, I can't seem to find a way to translate the Philips Hue command to the telnet command that MLGW uses for a custom string. My dealer has suggested that I could pay B&O a (rather large) fee to write a custom driver for the Philips Hue. It would seem that a much simpler solution might be if B&O could add a driver to allow HTTP or "curl" control. I'm don't understand computer programming and I'm probably saying this wrong.
Right now, I can turn on my lights by entering the following command via the terminal app on my mac:
curl -H "Accept: application/json" -X PUT --data '{"on":true}' http://10.0.1.2/api/jeffcragen/groups/0/action
From that command, it would be very easy to change the variables for more advanced lighting control. The problem is that I can't find a way to translate that into the telnet command that MLGW uses.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
What are the drivers for Control4 that are on the B&O website?
I'm still confused as to how we incorporate the Control4 programming into the MLGW programming utility. Conrol4 does not show up in the list like Lutron, KNX, etc.
Here is the link. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a section called "Toolbox" with drivers for the MLGW. I think those are the same 2 files. When I called B&O tech support, they were unaware of any third party site with drivers.

Do you know the cost of the drivers from Recluse? I only want to use my B&O remotes and Beolink app. I do not want to use the Contro4 interface at all.
If you have licensed Control 4 you should be able to do those drivers plus B&O at no extra charge (at least in US), according to my C4 buddy.

However, I believe that the drivers on the B&O site were written by Henrik Nielsen, the designer of MLGW. The problem with most third parties is that they expect that you want THEIR protocol and interface to control B&O devices - rather than the other way around. I'm finding it very difficult to find home automation installers who are familiar with B&O at all. I'm uncomfortable with the Control4 installer's lack of familiarity with B&O and the fact that I would have to hire the installer to make even minor changes - such as if I added another Hue bulb in the future. I'm also looking into KNX as the KNX programming software can be available to the end user -- at a price, of course. The Ise Smart Connect KNX Hue will be available in about a month for KNX control of the Philips Hue.
