Hi!

I have a question regaring the tape transport of the Beocord 9000.

A small ball bearing dropped to the table while I was servicing the tape transport, getting ready to change belts etc.

After pulling the transport from the deck, I had just removed the back plate and pulled out the capstan wheel. The ball bearing fell to the table when I turned the tape transport around to inspect the mechanics under the tape drawer..

I can't figure out where the small ball bearing has its place. Does anyone with insights on the Beocord 9000 tape transport have an idea where this ball bearing could be used?

Welcome to Beoworld !

There will be a small shiny metal plate with a block of black plastic, apprx 1x2cm long rattling around inside as well.
It sits, together with the steel ball, just in front of the erase head, supporting the tapehead bridge when it engages
and disengages.
There's a similar one at the right side, near the capstan, but it's usually the left one that breaks off.
Ideally, these parts should be fitted (glued) back but most decks will run fine without them.

Thanks MartinBig Smile,

You were right about the left plastic piece being broken. I glued it back on and put the ball bearing back in its place.
Now that I have assembled the tape transport I have noticed some other problems with my Beocord 9000 Embarrassed:

  • The motor hums/vibrates slightly when it is just driving the captan wheel. When playing or rewinding a cassette the humming/vibration goes away. I am  thinking about tightening/loosening the plastic screw on the triangle holding the Capstan wheel.
  • I tried calibrating a Type I Normal Position 120us EQ tape and the CCC switched from FE to METAL. ???

Just before I 'experiment', I am hoping that you are able to enlighten me on these issues.
