Hi-

My BS9000 mk2 is giving a new problem - on start (or power off, for that matter), the sledge stops about an inch earlier than it should (and cannot be moved manually further), then the system shuts down and restarts in stand-by mode. If you turn it on or select any other CD, the problem reoccurs. However, if I manually move the sledge and align it with another CD, it'll play, and then I can move to the next CD, and so on.. until the first CD, where the misalignment problem occurs, then the problem repeats. So, I think the mechanism is working fine, it's just a problem with alignment to the initial CD / starting position. I have cleaned the two little knobs and the underside of the glass door but that didn't help. The CD-player has been on the wall for over a year (horizontal position), so the suspension settings have not been changed.

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Hi,

These little knobs underneath the glass, is only a fingerprotection. Cleaning will only help from stopping the sledge, not the alignment.

For alignment, there is a tacho sensor at the big tachowheel inside. This sensor has to be cleaned.. After that you need a  servicemode TM71 instruction. Be VERY CAREFULL with static energy. It easily destroys the sensor. So no thoroughly rubbing, just carefull whipping.

But for doing it properly,  you need to remove the sensor.

Thanks for your reply.

Any advice on how to remove the sensor?

Should I assume that this is the problem or could it be something else? Like settings related? Is it worth resetting the system to factory defaults and seeing if it corrects itself? Is there even a way to do that?

As you can tell, I'm very inexperienced in this, so please forgive the barrage of questions.

Thank you!

I'd try a different position just to see what happens.  Take it off the wall, lay it flat on its back, re-set the two screws and give it a try.

I would start with shutting it off from the mains for several minutes..

I did disconnect it from the power supply (but not masterlink) overnight and it didn't do anything. I'll try shutting down everything this time and see if it makes a difference.

I'll also change the position and see if that helps.

Thanks for all your suggestions!
