Hi all, yet again I come humbly confounded by th wonders of " electickery in the words of catweazle" yesterday I was a happy chappie with a "aladins cave Norwich " where I purchased a BM 1000 with nicotine coloured keys "except the on/off key that's a later version black one!  Cosmetics neatly finished off with evostick and masking tape  attaching the tuner scale Scandinavian version with AAHUS 1  VESTJ.3    HOW COULD I RESIST!!!! £60 quid on the self stick label  " I can let it go for £30 ! But as usual I'm straying from the point.

When first I applied power with speakers attached it burst into life on radio not many stations admittedly but sound none the less however the sound was horrific very garbled and crackerly  on both channels vol , treb, bass and ballance all working just terrible sound. Closer inspection revealed quite a lot of corrosion on both fuse holders 2AMP these were removed and completely cleaned with needle files and re soldered into place powering up I was amazed at the sound improvement it sounded beautiful, tuning into Radio was better But no more channels. I decided to attach the iPad via the tape DIN socket and crystal clear sound reproduction.

NOW THE RUB when I switched back to FM ZIP NOTHING DIDDILY SQUAT!  Noise on both speakers but that's it where do I first start on this snag the IPod via Tape still works fine but no tuning on the Radio the Meter also just stays in the green sector. So sorry for the waffle but being a full time career I don't out much these days LOL!!!

Regards Maurice

Check the front panel switches.
Give them a shot of contact cleaner and work them a bit.

If the filter capacitor has dried out, the ripple may be too heavy for the tuner to work correctly.

Hi Martin

Can you supply a set of capacitors. For this BM? I cannot find any 1.6uf  25v axial  anywhere, when I listen to the ipad via tape input it sounds great. Also do you have any of the piano buttons in ivory and a tuner scale surround the front edge is broken off. Let me know the price please and I can organise payment via PayPal.

Best regards and thanks for your replies to my many questions.
