Hi, I'm planning to install some sound in the garage. I am thinking of a preloved Beolab 2000 but have never listen to one. How is the sound compared to a Beolab 3500?

Any one with experiance of the two?

I've got two I'm using in link rooms, but I have to admit I've never actually listened to the BL3500, just seen it on the wall in the store so sadly I can't actually compare the two. The BL2000 does have a slightly larger woofer, 4 inch vs. 3.5 or whatever for the BL3500, both have dome tweets. I'm pretty happy with the sound of the BL2000, it's clean and can play fairly loudly, but isn't the most thunderous bass out there, a bit bass shy but then I don't think with half the woofers of a BL6000 the BL3500 will be any great shakes either with respect to bass.

I think it'd be perfect for the garage, plus you can get them used for a song compared with even the price of used BL3500s (I watched prices a lot when I decided to buy the BL2000s, watched both types and I was able to find great BL2000s for about $250).

Good luck with it...

I have both. BL2000 in the kitchen and BL3500 in the library. BL3500 has in my ears better bass and better stereo separation.

One thing to consider if you won't be using a Beo4 or such is that it's a lot easier to control the link system with the BL2000, it has the ability to select source, timer, volume, on/off from that little control stub. I think the BL3500 is more limited, albeit a lot better looking.
