Hi
I have an inherited Beogram 1500 and it runs a little fast on 33, and won't adjust up to 45 :-(
Can I buy a replacement motor to get the stability and speed options? Would it be a straightforward job to replace? Anyone know what model of motor it would be, since these things crop up on ebay from time to time.
Thanks
Huw
Welcome to Beoworld Huw,
which type of Beogram 1500 is it - there are 2 different types.
What makes you assume that the motor is the problem? Stability issues are often belt related and can be rectified by obtaining the correct belt (try member 'Dillen'). Lubrication can be an issue too. Start there before deciding it's the motor.
Dave.
Welcome to the Beoworld,
First question:
which Beogram 1500 did you inherited? Is it the older (and IMHO nicer) Version Type 5208 with build-in amplifier or the new Version Type 5714/5716?
So, this one

It's the top one from the late 60's, with the built in amplifier. It's lovely (and so heavy!) and everything is fine (volume a little crackly when being adjusted) but it just plays ever so slightly fast on 33, and when you turn it to 45 it doesnt want to know and the turntable stops turning altogether. When bringing it back to 33 (ish) it is a bit of a fiddle to get it to start again.
I love it's design, let alone it's sentimental value
Clean and lubricate the speed change and fine adjustment mechanism.

They really are lovely decks, I have one in my collection which is in amazingly good condition but non-working at the moment.
Absolutely worth investing time into though!
