I just picked up a beocenter 7000 from thrift store.  Not such a good condition but phono was working when I got it home.

Stop - Turn - 45 -33 buttons on TT didn't work.  There's no way to stop the TT from spinning

I opened it only to blow the dust out.  I was very careful but now phono doesn't work.

Any ideas what's wrong and how to troubleshoot?

While it spins, guide the tonearm carefully by hand to a point near the platter center where you would expect the leadout groove on a record to be.
If, for some reason, the deck has become stuck mid-cycle, this should reset it and the tonearm should travel to its home position and the platter motor stop.

This is so frustrating!!!  I got it working for about 5 mins now sound doesn't come at all.

You were right about resetting.  There are 2-3 big white gears below the TT.  When the arm gets to the end these gears reset a switch that engages the reset and the arm goes back to original position.

I manually turned these gears and the arm was reset.  However it only works once.  After that it doesn't reset.

Also the "TURN" button doesn't behave like an on/off switch if I hold it down it turns but if I let go the TT stops spinning.

To lift and open the unit you have to disconnect 2 grey wires.  1 RCA type and 2 which I don't know.

When removing these wires I dislodged the solder form the RCA type.  This is why there was no sound from phone.  I used a spare RCA cable I had lying around and confirmed this to be the case.

Unit was working for 5 minutes.  Still I had problems starting/ stopping the TT automatically.

But after 5 minutes I get no sound at all.  Not even Radio.

I suspect it has something to do with the power.  If I push the "TURN" button the TT turns a little then stop like no power

Lights still comes on though.

I'm thinking of giving up and just sell the stylus

The turn button turns the turntable. Nothing more. It does exactly what it's supposed to do! This is only meant for cleaning the record before playing, so obviously it will only spin as long as the button is depressed,

You start the turntable by pressing either 33 or 45. I'm not really sure what you mean with "stopping automatically" - it stops when the tonearm reaches the end position or you press Pause (or was that Stop? You know, the fourth button).

I don't have a manual so I thought it's supposed to start or stop the TT.

When it got to the end it doesn't reset it's position.  It only resets if I lift up the TT and nudge the white plastic gear manually.  Meaning I can only play one record.

But anyways the bigger problem now is that I don't get sound out of the system at all.  Even without the TT I could have used it to play radio.  Now No sound whatsoever

I believe the 7002 has switches for speaker 1/2, any chance you accidentally moved these? Also try the headphone output.

Does the TT stop if you move the arm closer to the centre (meaning even closer than the end position of the record)? The end adjustment sometimes changes itself during transport.

Actually I'm testing with headphones because I don't have speakers.

Right now the TT doesn't even spin because I suspect an electrical issue.  Maybe I shorted something?

It's hard to describe the first scenario, but I'll try :

There 2 gears /sprockets under the TT.  When the record gets to the end this gear / sprocket is supposed to toggle a switch.  If the switch gets toggled the arm resets itself to orginal position.

if I lift up the TT slightly, I can push this with my fingers & it works as it should.  However it doesn't do this by itself when playing records normally.  It gets to the end of record then just stays there.

When I lift the TT a little and peek underneath I can see that it is almost at the part in the sprocket that toggles the switch.

At one point I had everything working except the part where the TT resets to original position.  But I could manually do this by lifting up the TT slightly and nudging the sprocket  underneath.

But the bigger problem now is that there is no sound.

When I push buttons I can hear clicks.  No radio anymore.  TT doesn't turn at all.  If I push the "TURN" button it turns slowly for 1 sec then kaput

I'm wondering how I can troubleshoot the problem with no sound or electrical.  I gave on the getting TT to work.

I can see the problem but not sure how to fix.

On the large white sprocket there are 2 gaps where there are no gear teeth.  Sometimes at this spot the gear doesn't engage

On another note...now there's no power at all :-(

I guess I will sell the cartridge and trash the unit

The two grey wires under the speaker switches are for the speaker outputs.
Without them, you will have a quiet Beocenter.
The RCA type is the antenna input.

I'm not convinced there is a fault in your record deck. Make sure that you are
operating it correctly before jumping to that conclusion.
I suggest you get a users manual. B&O is not like any other brand and your Beocenter
is actually a very high quality combo system, one of the best if you use records and tapes.

I'm guessing here, because I've not worked on one of these, but is this a similar mechanism as the BG1203/3000 decks? With that little adjustable plastic eccentric under the platter, to set the "oomph" of the relay, when pushing Start or Turn?

If it is, that little eccentric is notorious for causing start problems.

THX man!

I haven't listened to vinyls for a year, maybe longer because something screwed up.
But recently I have bought a fresh release of Public Enemy and approached several times (not very seriously) to fix the phono - but without success.
Today I tried to solve my problem, found this topic and your post and I enjoy the music from the LP. It was so simple! Just a small screwdriver was needed...
I even put the Star Wars soundtrack on TT :P
I hope that You will see my message! Thanks a lot again!
