I like the vintage stuff but I think this may be too old for me. I take it that it is actually B&O although it doesnt seem to say it anywhere.

My initial thoughts were "That doesn't look like a B&O Eliminator.."
My further thoughts were ".. and why doesn't it say Bang & Olufsen on it anywhere?"
My final thoughts were "Martin... tell us...."

Haha! Exactly my thoughts. Martin will know! The knobs look correct and its not like I've seen loads of Eliminators so apart from a couple of pictures I have no idea what they look like. I suppose they evolved over time so they could be correct. One picture looks exactly like this one but does have B&O on it.

No not B&O but an alternative is my guess.
Lauritz are good for getting their descriptions wrong. This is not the first time.
Oh, I am by no means an expert in this field but a photo of the backside would've been nice, sincethat's where the B&O metal badge would be.But it looks like a genuine B&O if you ask me.The feet are fairly unique and so are the knobs and the cabinet construction.I can't tell the exact type - there were countless - even some made for use with receivers fromother producers like Telefunken, Arcolette and others and I don't recall seeing this version before.It doesn't seem to have the charge/listen selector switch so probably has no provision for charging.

Only, I think, six of the quad open reel deck prototypes were made and I believe all are still by B&O.There are slightly different versions, not just black or alu but also the lettering etc. varies.It never reached production but can be seen in the Struer museum, where the photos in the link were taken.It seems they swap the deck occasionally, it's not always the same one exhibited.
One of these days, when my kids have finished school (at least 4 or 5 years ahead) I WILL definitely come to Denmark. I guess there will be a few friends to visit too...

It's a genuine B&O eliminator type B1.

Martin, du you have any knowledge when this Quad Reel machines was in the pre-producation phase ?Quad, usually means 4 discrete channels, in tape world, refering to professional machines that could record 4 channels at the same time...is this what this machine was ?, aimed for the pro-world ?
Rudy, I was actually considering a bid on this until I noticed you were already there.Congratulations!I can't imagine it going to a better home.Type B1 - wonder what it was made for.Worth noting that a chassis number as low as this could actually point to a unit put togetherby Mr Bang and/or Mr Olufsen themselves. At least they would've been around when it was produced.
Christian, Yes, it had four discrete channels - but unfortunately it got overtook by the compact cassette withits easy of handling etc..It would have been a wonderful machine, though.

Eliminator, yes.Quad Beocord, no.
Being a collector, you don't have to use it or do anything with it.Beovirus, definitely.
These are the oldest and newest items in my collection.I never used any of them.

I have no idea what the B1 eliminator was made for.
Couldn't find any information on it in my old documents.
You also have a VERY nice looking eliminator.
Is it a type O 20?
