Hi Guys,

Tempted to upgrade my main living room set up currently have a 55" Samsung and connect it too a preamp that runs a Beolab 7.1 as center, Beolab 9s a fronts and a pair of Beolab 14s and rear speakers.

Want to ideally complete the set up and buy a 55 Beovision 11 or the new avant but this is my problem.

Ive heard the sound is better from a Beovision 11 and being a realist theres not exactly loads of 4k content and that the Avant has trouble running 4k unless it has a dedicated external input??

Im also a bit of a beliver that you get what you pay for and wondering whats the catch to the Avant which is the current "Flagship Model' and its cheaper than a Beovision 11??

Help please??

What would you guys do?

Hi.

It's an interesting dilemma, because both are beautiful looking televisions.

I suppose that what you should do is go and test both 1080p content in them at the store and decide which one you like best.

Also what is your room decor like?  One is more "designer" and the other is more "designer with motion but traditional"

From what I read previously the reason why B&O didn't go down the HEVC road with the Avant is that most boxes will have this anyway.

In terms of "flagship" model, both are around the same price point here in Oz.

I am saving for an Avant, and I will probably have the same dilemna too

Both TVs can handle your speakers.  And both are WISA compatible, so even if you change your speakers later, you should still be safe.  Plus you can make your current speakers wireless with an adapter too.

Presumably you are happy with the sound quality produced by your existing Preamp/Speakers set up, so, in order to obtain the best Picture Quality have you considered replacing your existing Samsung with the LG 55EA980W OLED TV which is currently being sold for £2000?

It is THX certificated, so on that setting the 'out of the box'  PQ is excellent.

It also has both ISF 1 and ISF 2 settings so, after running in, it can be professionally calibrated.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your reply,

Yes my current set up sound wise is great but ideally i do want to go for a B&O TV just so i can complete the experience with a single B&O remote.

My guess is that I'm sort of future proofing myself with the 4k TV but the dilemma is am i future proofing myself where the tv only has HDMI 1.4 rather than HDMI 2.0 which gives true 4k?

Do you think B&O will produce another 4k tv next year with the issues i have solved?

Doesn't help either that they have just released a 2 year 0% finance option too!!

Hi Alex,

you can still have only one B&O remote to control everything. Beo5/6 works out of the box and if you would like to have a Beo4 you can use a Lintronic box.

There is a school of thought that 4K on a 55" TV is of minimal benefit.

Apart from the issue of the inadequate HDMI input, another consideration is the quality of the up-scaling to 4K.

Have you demoed an Avant?

I note that you are in Essex, so I can recommend the B & O dealer in Chelmsford.

Im going to have a demo on tuesday, Ive heard the Upscaling on the Avant is quite good on some reviews I've been looking at.

Yes I will be giving Darren at Chelmsford a call tomorrow to arrange a Demo.

Im sure i'll see it and just go for it, just wanted to get some thoughts from you guys (the Experts)
