Hi,

I've just recently bought an NTSC Wii. For some reason, I can only get a black and white picture on my MX7000 and Avant TV's.

I'm using composite and s-video cables.

MX7000 is on software 2.0.

Avant is type 8133.

Any help appreciated.

Hi

If you are trying to use an NTSC product on a PAL TV this will result in black and white due to the different colour transmission signal NTSC 60hz uses over the European PAL 50hz standard. I won't go much more into myself as it will be a long threadWink You will find lots of info on the web about NTSC & PAL compatibility issues.

I can't recall but can you change the video standard output settings in the WiI???

Best regards

Strange... all the specs I've read seem to indicate the sets should handle NTSC.

The MX7000 even has a "Tint" setting... which apparently only applies to NTSC signals.

I'm guessing the firmware is the same in all territories, meaning the tint function is redundant here?

I think that you might find that the VCR is the only part of your MKI Avant that is multi system. It's able to playback PAL. SECAM and NTSC

I see. If I were to buy a later MX on a higher FW, would that work? Or are there any other options (CRT wise)?

Thanks for all the help so far.

I have an MX7000 with SW 4.5 on the hook. Should I buy it?

The MX7000 was an awesome TV, we had one for years.  If it's cheap and what you want, go for it.  And it goes on a motorised stand too for ease of use.  Sound was great from it.

Dave.

Hi Dave. I already have one on software 2.0. Just need to know if the later ones support NTSC.

They are indeed, great tellies.

Just an update for anyone that might have this problem. I had to buy a YUV to RGB scart converter. Works flawlessly.
