Hi everybody, new member and a new owner of a B&O Beosystem 2500 as of today. Found it at a flea market for 10 dollars! Didn't know a thing about it but the quality was to good to pass up. Took it home and cleaned it up, tried to open one of the glass doors and it popped off of the metal bracket. A little super glue made it look like new again and some research showed that they slide open from a motion sensor. How cool is that! Anyway, it's hooked up and will be my bedroom system. I love this thing, it's really classy.

My question is, how do I take off the speaker grills? It has the blue material and is a bit loose and wrinkled. I want to fix it as it looks great besides that. Love the way it loads the CD, the way the glass doors open, everything about it. Must have cost a fortune in it's day. Has a date of 1991 on back of one of the speakers. Plus it sounds great.

Thanks everybody

Hey BillWojo,

Welcome to Beoworld!

Nice buy on the 2500! $10 is nothing!!

To remove the grill cover, use your finger to feel the plastic frame behind the cloth. On the inside of the frame, push your finger through the cloth (gently of course, and not actually through) and curl around the back of the frame. Pull the frame towards you and it should pop off easily!

Hi Jonathan, thanks for the welcome. Yea, 10 bucks was nothing to pay for a system like this. I was sure it wouldn't work and was shocked when it did. Sometimes you just get lucky.

Well, i tried what you said and they came right out. Looks like the material is sandwitched between 2 peices, I guess I need to pry them apart? On closer examination I think that the frame has a deep groove all the way around the outside perimeter and the material is pushed into the groove with a long plastic slat. Doesn't look easy to fix. Have you hade yours apart that far?

Thanks for your help, I'm not used to this style of speaker design.
