For whatever reason I can't find archives on this subject, even thou I remember reading...

What is the best way to connect the beolab 5 to an iMac using FireWire connection, or else? Soundproof talked about a particular soundcard but I have no knowledge about those devices.

Thank you

Hi

I'm using the cambridge DAC Magic Plus http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/summary.php?PID=872

USB out from the Mac - DAC Magic Plus and Beolab 5 connected with SPDIF cables.

Pro: With the DAC Magic you can use several digital inputs and the SPDIF output to the Beolab 5

Cheers

Carlo

No, digital to the Beolab 5!

I'm using the analog out for the Beoport which is feeding my Masterlink Network. If you are using only an iMac and a pair of Beolab 5, you can also buy a cheaper Toslink to SPDIF converter.

The DACMagic is a great digital Hub - also Headphone output is pleasure with my AKG 701

That's the reason why I did not buy the dac magic.

Instead I got a TCImpact Twin. But I have yet to finalize the installation thou.

Thanks for the link.

Actually, those posts are the reason why I bought a TC impact. But I'm still struggling to understand how to properly setup the device... Too many options that I do not know much about...

Edit: by the way, bayerische is very kind and he is helping me by providing with information.

Bought the Dacmagic plus, When you use digital in and spdif out it does nothing to the signal I found out! It also has an asynchronous USB so jitter is reduced before its beeing fed to the Beolab 5s. As a bonus you get a good headphone amp.

Will sell my TC konnekt 24
