Hi all, I have a BS5 system that after 1.5 years accessing the Internet through my home network has suddenly stopped working and in the settings under network info it tells me that there is NO network connection!

The only thing that has happened is that my power at home has been switched off and on due to some electrical work being undertaken. The BS5 locked up and just sat with the Red LED flashing. I rebooted it and everything started OK but since then No Network Connection.

I have checked the RJ45 connection with another computer and have moved my access Unit into the same socket and all is OK. My network switch is seeing the BS5 as the LED light is on.

This seems to be a software problem. Is there a way to check this please?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers Trevor.

I have constantly the same problem. My connection is about Wlan (Wifi client), has already tried by Lan. Only if I the Beomaster start several times I have a connection if I luck has. However, mostly she is away after one day again. I thought it lies with my Router. Wahrschinlich, nevertheless, a problem of the Beomaster or the software. I soon become crazy.

Hi Iceman, I have now solved the problem.  My BS5 was set to get its IP address via DHCP. Therefore when my system rebooted for some reason the router gave it a new address that conflicted with another address. Hence no connection, this also sounds exactly the same problem you are having.

To stop this problem the BS5 needs to have a static address.  You will need a USB keyboard and mouse which are plugged into the back of the BS5. Go into the engineer settings which will allow you to get into Windows XP.  From there go to network settings and untick the DHCP box.  Then input a new IP address which is outside of the DHCP range.  Usually above 250.

Hope this helps

So if I have understood correctly:

- Disable the DHCP BM5

- Set a fixed IP address, for example, 192.168.2.255 - correct?   (this IP then enter the router?)

I always had entered only the displayed IP as fixed IP in the router until now. Sorry I write with Translater

Yes correct Once you have set your static IP address you do not need to do anything with your router as it will find the address automatically. However please check the Preferred and Alternate DNS server address on your router and make sure these are the same in your BM5 settings otherwise again it will not work.

Hi Iceman,

192.168.1.255 will give you big problems because this IP is used for network broadcasts. Try .254 or something lower.
