Hello,

Does anyone have their BL5's close to a wall / corner and still happy with the sound?

I do, and I am. They're slightly toed-in.

Cheers Lawrence. I had wobbly feet last night worrying that their placement might be too close to the wall. The Left speaker will be against the wall, and the Right speaker in a corner. Distance between the 2 speakers approx 6ft (either side of TV). Also a fair bit of glass (floor to ceiling windows) in the room too. I haven't physically got the BL5's in my home yet - should be here next week! I chose the 5's over the BL20's as the difference was very noticeable in the store. The other option was 4 x BL17's and a BL19 or 2 x BL3's (fronts) and 2 x BL17's (rear), and again a BL19.

I love the idea of consolidation. Rather than have multiple items, choosing an option which negates the need for "extra" things. A la the subwoofer. I hope you'll post pictures when you get them. Are you installing them yourself or having them installed for you?

Not the main reason but certainly played a part in going for the 5's - no need for a separate sub! The B&O dealer is doing the install. I will post a pic up with pleasure. Infact I tried to post a pic of the room in my initial post but i keep getting an error - file too large or something like that? Picture was taken on iphone 5S. Cheers

My 5S pictures upload when I use Philippe's App.

Otherwise via the desktop browser interface you can hit problems -- I think the limit is around 1 MB ?

LR2015,

Just a few tips:

- If at all possible, use the BL5s' digital input.

- Once they're in the position you desire, perhaps starting with them facing directly forward from the back wall, calibrate each speaker in turn.

- Measure the distance between each speaker and your listening position, and enter them into the TV's audio settings.

- Using a SPL meter, set the volume of each speaker in the TV's audio settings.

- Listen to a piece of stereo music you know well (not surround sound). How do the speakers sound?

With most speakers (without ALT) you toe them in because of YOUR listening position, i.e. so that they point at you. But with the BL5s you toe them in because of THEIR position, i.e. so that they point slightly away from the side wall to reduce early reflections, etc. The closer they are to the side wall, the more I would recommend that you try toeing them in slightly.

(Dave Moulton posted some advice about this elsewhere on the forum, and that's what I followed.)

So once you've listened to them pointing straight ahead, try toeing them in slightly, recalibrate and listen again. Keep whichever position sounds best to you.

- Don't forget to calibrate after you move them, and calibrate one speaker at a time.

- If you change the overall distance between the speakers and you, don't forget to change the distance and volume settings in the TV.

Hope this helps.

Not sure small toe-in adjustments will require the bass to be recalibrate
