i think somewhere in the Beosound Moment thread it was mentioned that the Essence is due for an upgrade similar to what the A9 received, am mostly after the 5GHZ Wifi.
Is there a date for this?
If yes - I'd say May this year.

I'd expect the Essence 2nd Generation to have the same features as the A9 2nd Generation - although I did not see that confirmed anywhere yet.
If the Essence (2nd Gen) - as mentioned above - will not have AirPlay, it (at least to me) might indicate, that it also will be able to play the role, that the Moment do/will do in the upcoming multiroom setup. Otherweise, why should they leave out AirPlay? As you know, airplayed content is not allowed to be distributed to multiple receivers over the network. And they would have to leave out Spotify Connect too!
The A9 (2nd Gen) does AirPlay and can 'only' act as a receiver for content from the Moment (and maybe the Essence 2nd Gen.) - in my understanding. It can not distribute it's own sources on the NL.
Hopefully soon we will get more information on this - and we won't have to guess any longer.
