I recently purchased a Beogram 4002 turntable in excellent shape. The  belts were well worn. I recently purchased a set of belts from a reputable seller. My question is it common place to have to adjust the speed with a new platter belt on these tables? The original belt was stretched out and slipping, so when I put the new belt on the speed was too slow on both 33/45 so I adjusted both pots, I didn't have this issue when replacing the belt on my Rx2.

thanks, john

The Beogram 4002 1970's era turntable. Even though you were able to get one in excellent shape, if the service on it hadn't been kept up, it makes sense an adjustment could be in order.

I think it my be the new drive belt, it seems a tad bit thicker and a bit too snug, I can Adjust trim pot for 33 rpm, though I can't adjust the pot for 45 rpm can't get it fast enough. Does this sound like this is a symptom of wrong belt?

Thanks, john

I suppose it could be the belt.  Where did you buy it?  I have tried belts from Ebay and from Marrs Communications.  Both have worked okay for me.  On all of my Beogram 4002 decks I replaced capacitors, trim pots and re-lubricated all of the moving components.  I'm not saying you need to do that but those are things that should be looked at on the older turntables.

I obtained the table last week and it wasn't working properly( arm would not drop)I lubricated all  the pivots and got the arm to work with no issues. I obtained the belts from vintage-electronic.com. I had recently got a belt for my RX2 from them with no issues. The drive belt I received from them is just a bit wider than the older belt ant a bit thicker. The belt seems a bit to snug to me?? I considered buying from Marrs, though I read people had issues with receiving there product in a timely fashion.

thanks for your input.

Why don't you buy from member Dillen?

I have used his belts and never had a problem.
