I’m considering on buying the BeoPlay S8. I would use it as my second set with my Imac as a source. Before I make my decision I would like to ask couple of questions that I have not found answers.
Those of you who use BeoPlay S8 do you use a separate Dac and is there something one needs to keep in mind in choosing a Dac for BeoPlay S8? Does the BeoPlay benefit from a separate Dac?
The second question is that can I use BeoPlay’s subwoofer in my other set with Lyngdorf TDAI 2170. Currently I’m running the Lyngdorf as a 2.0 set, but I have been looking for a good subwoofer to this set too. So could the BeoPlay 8S also solve my occasional need for sub in this set? Lyngdorf has built in room correction and amp. it also has normal Subwoofer out. Would it even be possible to hook up the BeoPlay satellites to Lyngdorf speaker outs and then let Lyngdorf do the room calibration for the whole set? Not sure if there is any sense in this but I it would be interesting to try BeoPlay in this set too? All help will be much appreciated.
A DAC will always make the sound better when the output is a computer. (as long as the DAC is of better quality than the one in the computer)
But if you are able to hear a difference, that is another question.
The S8 can be used in a surround system where there is a receiver that has pre-outs.

Thanks for the reply. Okay its good to know that I can use S8 as part of surround system with pre outs, but can I use the sub as a part of other system as a stand alone sub without the satellites and can the satellites be used through other amp not the subwoofers one? Like I said not sure is there any sense in this, but I think I can not use the Lyngdorf room correction if I use the S8 amplifier, but it would work through speaker outs.
