Hi All,
Received my BeoPlay A9 MKII last week, is it possible in anyway to control it with Beo6? I read somewhere that the first version could be controlled with Beo4/Beo6, but not the A9 MKII.
Can anyone confirm that? Any suggestions in making Beo6 work with A9 MKII?

if you mean the A9 2nd Generation - that has no ir-receiver built-in.
No way to get that working.
Use the BeoMusic app.

Ah shame, really wanted to use the Beo6 for that. Thought if no IR, maybe they could connect through wifi somehow.
If your Beo6 can connect to a DLNA server (BM5 or alike) and you can see the DLNA player part of the A9 (2nd Gen) on it, it might be possible to push some music to it.
Not sure though!
Unfortunately the Beo 6 isn't that "intelligent".It can only connect to a BeoMaster 5 via a custom XMPP protocol. If you really can't live without the ability to control it via a Beo 6 you could do some tinkering, of course.Connect a 455kHz IR receiver to e.g. a Raspberry Pi, setup LIRC and trigger network-based commands on incoming IR events.You could even use a normal/cheaper 38kHz receiver if you change the programming of your Beo 6.This way it should be possible to control basic stuff like volume and skipping tracks via a IR remote... BR,BeoMotion.
yeah that would be nice, but id have to buy one now :-) on my list!
Would it be possible perhaps to connect the IR Eye somehow to A9Mk2 and use it to receive Beo5 remote commands?
I am using a beosound essence remote with my A9 MKII and it works fine. The only thing is essence can be a bit sluggish when you just start using it - I suspect it goes to sleep and has to connect but I am not sure. I wonder if the bluetooth version of the beoremote 1 works with it?
I have Essence Remote - bought it with A9 Mk2 - and it is both temperamental and sluggish. So I decided to give up and use the app mostly.
Beo5 question was more to check if there is any possibility at all (like I asked with an IR Eye)...

I had a similar issue with a BeoSound2 (2016) and a Beo4. I needed remote volume control on that device. I decided to add a BeoLink Active (with IR-eye) to my setup and connect the PowerLink out to the (auto sense) Line In of the BeoSound2 (2016). Now I can control the BeoSound2 (2016) with my Beo4 and in addition to that I gained MasterLink integration of my NetLink device ;-) This solution only makes sense, if a MasterLink network is present.´

.....and how do you deal with the double volume controls?
With my office A9, I simply have an old iPad Mini on a dock which I use solely for controlling/streaming content to the speaker! This could be radio via the BBC iPlayer Radio app, music, podcast or similar.
I've found that this is the easiest and quickest way to do everything from a single device. Of course, I can move it around, too, pretty easily.

If the BeoSound2 (2016) is turned on, it starts at a specific volume level (which can be modified via app), this is my reference volume level for MasterLink, which can be adjusted with the Beo4.

If you're using the BeoLink 2 app, then you must have a BLGW. Provided that your BeoLink Active updated to pass along LIGHT/CONTROL commands, you can program macros to control the NL device in anyway you want.
Sounds a bit like my setup where I use a BLC NL/ML with an extra IR-eye to get support from BeoTime to NL via a BLGW.

Found this old post but I wonder if the mammutbox would sort out these problem to have IR control of these products via it´s network commands. It also have bluetooth connection but not shore if they have added the function so that the mammutbox works as remote, thay have the other direction to work as receiver for the Essence control.
