Hi Folks,

I recently turn up my beloved Beosystem 7000 CD + AMPLI in black and white and notice a strange problem on the CD compoment :

Upon inserting a disc and pressing play, I heard the CD spinning, sometime its gets till the AMPLI display the index of the tracks, but it always shuts down automaticaly before playing. I try numerous CD, both paid one and one I made myself, and I observe the same behaviour.

I have the chance to own the CD+AMPLI setup both in black and white, I made several tests and the 2 CD units seems faultly (needless to say, I am trying to sell them and last time I test them, they were working...).

Do you have an idea of the problem ???? I am clueless on this. Any help will be appreiciated :)

Cheers,

Sergio

First things first have you tried different CDs? It may be that. Sometimes they are temperamental.

Secondly, try cleaning the laser head inside. It might be dirty and dusty. Be careful though.

These are also prone to a fault that is very similar to these diagnostics. There is a capacitor which is often faulty and the cause of this not reading CD behaviours.

Try searching the forum for it.

thanks for the answer !

Yes, I try different CD, no luck at all. Sometime, with luck, it works, but another time with the same CD, it doesnt...

Regarding the fault capacitor, how can I diagnose that ? Or check it ? A few years ago I already open the CD and AMPLI box in order to clean them up from dust, so I am not afraid to open the CD and check for electronics !

Cheers

It can be this capacitor fault. I do these repairs for many years...

Even with a 100% replacement of ALL capacitors this defect is seen more and more. It is the laser unit itself that fails.

10 years ago 90% of the cd7000 failed because of caps, especially C2103 and power supply. Today i get more than 50% players, where  the laser unit has one or more ( of 4) damaged laser receiver diodes and have tracking problems. This is not repairable any more...

Try this: start cd, turn off Sound. Listen to the drive. if there is a Sound, becoming louder to a singing or humming noise... laser tracking unit defect. Unrepairable.

Also skipping and not holding the tracks has to do with this defect.

Sorry for the News...

Thanks a lot for this answer.

I try to listen to the sound of the CD, but everytime I press play, I heard it spinning and stop. it lasts around 1sec, maybe 2, but it always stopped.

I clean a little bit the undercover and my Black system is working again (for how long...). The White one is not anymore.

Do you think I can do something ? Regarding your answer mine may not be totally dead... :)
