Dear members,
I have found littel information about these speakers on the forum. I am offered a perfectly working white pair (have already listened to them) in good cosmetic condition. In what ways do they differ from the RL 140? Any general opinions on these speakers?
Greetings,
Kai
Hi Kai,
the specs are identical as I'm sure you know from the products section. I think the change of name in 1991/92 was just as they were considered to be the 'MKII' versions. How or if they were actually updated, I don't know. Possibly just a slight change in crossover design? Maybe have a look at the service manuals to see if there is a difference.
As far as I can see, they are the same but with different names. Maybe someone can shed some light on it?
If they are a good price, snap them up.
Dave.
Thanks Dave. What is a good price from your point of view? I find it pretty hard to tell considering the age. There are many around but most are not in good and often even in non-working condition. Cheers
I've had both. Little difference.
You need a meaty amp to run them.
Nothing B&O makes is up to scratch. (Arguments coming....)
You need minimum 100+ watts a channel, then they sound sublime.
Buy them. They're a big speaker, but if you have the room, they're great!!!
You did state arguments would be coming regarding your comment that nothing B&O makes is up to scratch.
Are you seriously telling me that a Beomaster 8000 would not be able to run these? Surely you can't be serious
Ben
I was waiting for it Ben.
Yes. That is the ONLY AMP that is close to be able to run these.
I had a pair of RL 7000's hooked up to a 9500.
HIDEOUS!!
Hooked them up to a Musical Fidelity amp (120 watts a side) SUBLIME!!!
Never had an 8000, but many peoples favourite.
They look great!
Hello Kai,
these are the differences:
Redline 140
available in grey
has DIn Plugs
uses a passiv bass membran
has a seas tweeter
the stands were adjustable
the rl 7000
was available in black and white
has no din plugs
uses a port (Bassreflex)
has a phillips tweeter
the stands weren't adjustable :(
I am still curious how different both speaker sound.
has anyone ever tried this?
regards
Chris

are you sure?
It is the first RL60's that had the bass radiator which was mounted on foam. This rotted away until the radiator plate was laying in the bottom of the box.

Hi,
which position do you prefer? Do you use the props or the stands?
I think you can get the best soud if you use the props.
Best regards
