Hello, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice? I have just got my Beocenter 2002 out of storage after a move and the platter seems to be sitting too low so that when a record is on, the tonearm is sitting right down on the plastic with nowhere for it to pivot or room to move over to record.

None of the manuals online for this model seem to include info on adjustment of these so that even if I work out how to do it, I don't know the correct heights I'm going for??

Hello,

this sounds strange. The swing-chassis is suspended by 3 leaf-springs, which can be adjusted. Or do you mean, only the platter had moved down, not the whole swing-chassis (with tone-arm)? Or is the little "plastic" arm near the bearing not moving enough and prevents the tonearm from going down enough?

Well, I've had another good look, having taken it all out and examined the three leaf springs that you mention. Really the chassis as a whole seems to be about right but the tone arm seems not to be held up high enough. No it's definitely not the plastic arm not allowing it to move, there is no pivot room at all, it is basically sat completely on the ground. When I have no record or the metal platter, the tone arm is about right. You say you can adjust the springs, should I maybe be tightening the one closest to the tone arm?

If the record platter, is at the correct level dont touch the leaf springs, with a record on the platter and pressing play is the tonearm moving toward the record, and when reaching the record, moving down on the record or near it. Check the lift mechanism for the tonearm, it may be stuck.

Yes it moves towards but literally crashes into the platter, it is nowhere near high enough to get onto the record and even if lift mechanism was or wasn't stuck, as I said it has nowhere to tilt it to, the weight is flat on the base with no room to pivot at all.

You are kidding!

The tonearm is not straight any more and the counterweight is unscrewed to outermost. This setup cannot work any more!

WOW! That's not good. I'm afraid you will need to get a replacement tonearm.

Trying to get the arm straight will probably brake it, when looking for a new tonearm check that the wires are there and the original length and not damaged in any way.

Thanks Soren.

It actually bent back a treat and everything now tickety boo.

Thanks all for your help.
