I was gone on one month holiday and left my system unplugged as always. I returned, plugged everything back in and found that there was no picture or sound when attempting to play a DVD. When I have the HDMI input set to my Mac Mini, I can hear the audio, but there is no picture. I can sometimes get the picture to work if I turn on the PC setting on at the same time as booting up my mac. That seems to reset the HDMI interface. But even if I leave the computer on and turn off the Beovison 7-55, the picture will not return. Only audio. At first, it seemed to be just an isolated HDMI handshake issue, but I figure it's more widespread if the built-in DVD/Blu-Ray's HDMI isn't recognized either. I can't get that to work at all anymore, and I rarely ever used it. I disabled my PIN years ago, so none is required after plug in. The PIN should not be the issue. My guess is that something in my TV is having trouble communicating through the HDMI connections. I haven't changed or reconnected anything except the power cable. It is always plugged in to a Panamax surge protector as well. Any ideas?

Good evening,

Are the TV menus displayed if you press MENU or the screen stays black? Does the built-in tuner at least work ?

Regards,

Jean

Thanks for your reply, Jean.

The menu cannot be accessed while the TV tries to detect the HDMI signal. There is simply no picture at, and it can last about a minute or longer.

After being plugged in for over 24 hours now. The TV does manage to pull up the picture on both the DVD and PC inputs when selected. However it can take about a minute or more. It used to be almost instantaneous, so there still seems to be trouble with the signal detection, rather than the actual screen or backlighting.

I don't use the tuner. My TV is used only as a Blu-ray/DVD player and computer monitor... with surround sound.

Hello Mike,

I would try a factory reset in service menu.

Hi,

I think the BV7 has an integrated beosystem 3. Instructions to access service menu follow. Read carefully the reset to default section. Cheers.

Display the menu (press menu) then hit 0 0 then GO.

Select monitor, please read the following.

===> The Reset to default is activated directly when the menu line is highlighted and GO is pressed on Beo4. If this command is executed, the following things will happen:

  • -  All TV, satellite and radio programs are deleted.

  • -  AV6 is set to ”CAMERA”.

  • -  The AV socket(s) (AV to AV5) is set to ”NONE”.

  • -  Option is set to .

  • -  The service menu setup for picture values (brilliance/colour/contrast) is set to default.

  • -  The setup tuning menu is enabled (initialisation/auto-tune menu) (the menu will

appear next time the TV is powered on). The anti-theft setup is not changed.

If the ”RESET TO DEFAULT” menu item is selected, the ”PLEASE WAIT” message will be displayed until the above actions have been carried out. As long as ”PLEASE WAIT” appears, do NOT choose a source or press EXIT or STANDBY on Beo4.

When the text disappears Service Mode is exited. Set the TV into standby.

Note, that when the TV start up from standby, the setup procedure is as if the TV is connected to the mains and switched on for the first time.

Thank you Raeuber and Bophile for your help and advice. I reset everything back to default and then reprogrammed all of my settings. Everything seems to work better now. The picture comes up very quickly as before. I'm relieved my TV isn't broken! I think I'd rather have one of my cars break down instead. That would be cheaper to repair. :-)

Hello Mike,

I am happy to hear a reset had solved your problem.

Enjoy your BV 7-55 Mk2, it's probably the best TV B&O ever made (mine is a BV 7-40 Mk6).
