Hello,
Anyone, please, help!
I'm trying to set up following installation:
Beovision 4-50
Beosystem-2
Multimedia player Popcorn TV with HDMI-Port
DVI-D - HDMI-cable
* * *
In service menu i've selected PDP-50-D7
In connections menu via camera set up PC
But still no image...
Questions:
1. Which type DVI-HDMI cable do i need?
2. Maybie, i have some hidden setting in service or general menu?
If the BV4 is not HD ready, it could be an HDCP problem (high definition content protection).
(And I should have said, welcome to the forum!)
Thinking some more about this - HDCP is almost certainly the problem.
I tried to connect my WDTV to my BV6-26 (non-HD) using an hdmi-to-dvi cable. If worked fine with streamed video and BBC iPlayer, but when I started using Netflix the screen was blank.
Apparently HDMI content with HDCP (like Netflix output) requires an electronic 'handshake' over the HDMI cable with an HD-ready TV, in order to work properly. I am sure that others will explain more comprehensively.
If the Popcorn had an analogue output you may be OK. Good luck!
Try googling 'HDFury'.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
On which socket did you connect the DVI connector?
On a DVI module beneath the panel? On the BS2?
Only a DVI in the BV7 panel can handle digital signals. The BS2 handles only analog. With DVI-D(igital) it will not work.
If you place a DVI module in your panel, then you need at least a mk2 ro mk3 with software 15.x or higher. This module has to be assigned in the Plasma Version Setup in the servicemenu.
DVI connector located in Slot 1 directly on a panel
DVI module type TY-42TM6DB.
Beosystem 2 Type 9416 Serial 18395182 SW 15.2
Panel 4-50 Type 8971 Serial 19522403
I've tryed to set Plasma Type PDP 50 D6, PDP 50 D7, PDP 42 D5 in Service Menu
In Connections Menu Camera - to PC or Decoder to PC
Nothing changed...
I previously had success connecting HD sources to my Beovision 6 using an innexpensive HDMI->VGA connector.
It may be of use to you?

You could try this one also, it is advertised for an apple tv but should work with any HDMI source

Beocenter 8500 / Beolab 4000 / Beosystem 5500 / Beolab 8000 / Beogram 2000 / Beosound 8 / Beovision 6-26 / Beovision MX4000 / Beomaster 1900-1 / Beovox CX50 / Beoplay H4 / Beoplay A1 / Beocom 1401 x2
Thank you, guys for attention to me.
Scott, i don't have an additional vga-in port. So, it will be complicated to change cables everytime when i need a TV and Media Player

Ok, I've seen the pictures.
This setup will not work as you wish.
Try to order (I hope it is still available) newer software 16.2 or 16.3 for your BS2.
Then you are able to assign the DVI module.
This is how the "Plasma version Setup" looks like with the proper software:
Beobuddy, thank you so much!
Am i right, that it need to apply a new firmware for current BS2? Or fully replace my BS2 for a newer hardware version?
May be worth trying hdmi to rca convertors/av convertors it may work few on ebay or amazon or google it
You have 2 options.
1. Change the software from the BS2 into a newer version. with this software you are able to switch between the different inputs (slot 1, 2, 3) at the panel. You;re actually bypasssing the video-engine in the BS2, but still maintain the audio and remote via the BS2. The disadvantage is that you will lose the menu-overlay when you use the extra DVI module. Any (STB-C) menu overlay will not be visible.
2. Buy a BS3. The more expensive option. But with every source you will have the menu overlay
I'm getting the idea that you bought a DVI module yourself, is that correct? If your dealer installs a DVI module, then a software update was made to transfer all videosettings (colour, brilliance etc) are used when you use the DVI module. A Panasonic panel can have different videosettings for different inputs.
1. Great Option to Change the Software. Can i do it by myself? Where is located instruction with steps and necessary soft and equipment.
2. Expensive
3. No, DVI Module initially installed in panel. I suppose, that the dealer changed BS2 for older version with older SW. For example, pair from 4-42 panel.
I've seen a lot of BS2 SW 15.xx with 4-42 panels.
Beobuddy, please, help with question 1.
The software comes with a small note with details how to install. It's just 1 IC.
You will (of coarse) screwdrivers and a IC extractor/removal plier.
Thank you so much.
Where can i find this 1 IC? Searching ebay ang google does not.
Out local dealer denied me ordering this IC.
Why?
Doesn't he want to deliver spareparts, or is the software not available anymore?
Yes, the first one answer. Maybie i can order it in Europe?
I've tried the following setup:
BV4-50, Beosystem 2 MK3 version (also taken from my Friend) with Software 16.xx - it's fully working.
Additional points become in service menu -> Plasma Version Setup --> DVI-D Plasma Slot 1
In Camera Settings (General Menu) - PC
Beside This, I've tryed to install SW IC Chip into my BS2 (earlier version with 15.2 Software) - also works two. Upgrade works.
The same menu with DVI-D slot assignment. And also picture from my Player in PC with Beo4 Remote.
I'll try to find new IC with software 16.xx for my BS2.
You're welcome.
If you assign the DVI (slot) to the AV, then you will be able the connect and use digital audio (DD and DTS), through the accompanying phono socket on the sound module.
Sound then has to be lead to the AV scart and on the 2nd phono/RCA plug SPIF signals can be send.
If you use the Camcord inout as DVI, then there isn;t a digital phono plug. (there is if you have it installed officially).
