hello I am new to this site and would appreciate some advice, I have owned my system for over 15 years with no problems, I have a beocenter 2300 with beolab 4000 I have no sound, I have red lights on the speakers sometimes they flicker green and click, I have just tried a new powerlink cable but still have the same problem. Thanks

Hi,

this sounds like the standby transformer of the Beolab 4000s.

Try the folowing:

- connect a RCA cable to the line-in of the Beolabs

- slide the select switch from the Beolabs to 'Line'.

- tap with your finger at the pin of the RCA cable at the other side but don't touch the ground ring of them..

Do the Beolabs switch on to green and do you hear some humming sound from the speakers?

If they stay red it's very likely the standby transformer.

If they switch on (green) there's something wrong with your Beosystem 2300.

One more thing: Try the mute button on the BS2300.

2 Powerlink wires? Or just 1 from box to box?

Try just 1 cable and 1 box.

That both BL4000 have a defect transformer quite at the same time? ????

It can be the transformer... but i could imagine, that the "Power On" signal is dead.

You can measure it... it must switch to ~5V for "on".

There is a small smd transistor on the mainboard... you will need some skills for repair. You have somebody?
