Being reasonably new to the world of B&O I started out with a pair of Beolab 8000 connected to a NAD preamp. Having loved the looks of B&O since forever, I just got an offer for a decent Beosystems Amp/Tuner and bought it without thinking it through properly and now I have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with.

1) Can the Amp/Tuner be used at all without a remote?

2) If not: Will it work with a Beolink 1000?

3) As I, for a foreseeable future, am not expanding the system with a gram or cd or a multi-rorm setup, would there be any advantage buying a Beolink 7000? The ones I've seen on the net are quite expensive.

Looking forward to hearing any advise you can give me

Thanks in advance

Morten

Hi Morten,

1) You can turn it on and off and step the radio programs. Basically, forget about it.

2) Yes, and that would IMHO be the best choice for everyday use.

3) It's very nice when it works, but unless you really want one, I wouldn't bother. As you say, they are either expensive or in a bad shape or needing service.

Another option would be an MCP (6500 and 5500 would both work) and that's a great conversation piece as well. But get a Beolink 1000 in any case, I can almost bet that will be the one you'll use the most!

A Beo4 will work as well, but some setup operations (like setting the radio presets) will be quite painful with it.
