Hi All

I am in the process of restoring a complete BS6500 incl MCP6500..

Thanks to Dillen, the Beomaster and Beocord will be fixed when the new parts arrive, the CD only needed cleaning and lubrication, and MCP also just was in need of a good cleaning..

The BG6500 on the other hand, is more needy.. The MMC4 skips all over the records, and the drop point for the pickup arm, was to early, but this can also be because of the pickup not getting into the groove right away :)

After adjusting the drop point, the pickup stays on the record now, however, still skipping all over, so I need a new pickup, or maybe to try Alex in germany and get it retipped..

That aside, there stil is an issue with it (I think)..

When the arm returns to start position(when pressing std.by) the 2 big gears are grinding teeth !! This only happens if std.by is pressed when the record is not finished. If I let the arm go all the way to the end, and the pickups catches the last groove and detects "record end", then there is no grinding teeth.

The problem is because the top big gear, which also moves the pickup, is used to transport the pickup back to starting position, but with the record not finished, then the arm and top big gear, reaches "end" before the platter stops turning.

I don't think this is normal "Noise". To me it sounds like there is a misalignment of some gears or something ?

But other than this, all other mechanical parts are moving and working as they should..

I know this can sound confusing, but I think that anyone that ever has opened a BG35/45/65/7000 record player, knows what I am thinking about, since they all are mostly the same :)

After looking closely at mine, and determing why the noise is there, I took a look at the wire, and it seems that the holder for the spring/wire actually was broken, but has not fallen off... But this cased the sledwheel to not return 100% to its end position, and therefore the teeth where grinding..

Just did it on mine, and now the noise is gone, and also the drop for the pickup can now be adjusted to the correct setting, it had problems with some records.
