I know that it is possible to use wifi but I am going to connect Essence MK2  to router and NAS using cables. What I wonder is which cable I should use. Cat 6, 7, shielded or not?

Also is there anything else I should consider while planing for a new NL-infrastructure?

Netlink is simply ethernet, there are no analogue audio signals involved - so unshielded cat5e will suffice in a domestic environment although you might still choose to use a higher grade of cable to allow for different uses in the future.

The same would not be not the case however, if you were wanting to run either powerlink or masterlink signals over Category cable - in which case either Cat 6 or Cat 7 can be used but it is important that it is of the S/FTP variety (overall braided screen, plus a foil screen around each individual pair).

Kind Regards,

Martin
