One of my co-workers has a Beocenter 9500 with a LCS 9000 speaker. However - his wife thinks that the 9500 is too big and want a smaller audio system. I have been asked to find them a BC 2300 or a BS 3000.
If possible, they want to use the existing wiring, as it is hidden in the wall.
I have not seen the setup - so I don't know how the 9500 is connected to the LCS9000. Guess it is MCL?
Can a BC 2300 be connected with the same wiring/plugs as the BC 9500?
Do we need a converter box inbetween?

I guess the easy way will be to buy a BS 3000, as it can be connected with Masterlink to the LCS 9000.
- but then I guess it will not be that easy - as we must rewire with a Masterlink cable inside the wall?

The question is now: What would you Beoworlders recommend?

No answers..?  ;-)

Ok - I have now bought a BeoSound 3000. to replace the BC 9500.

The LCS 9000 is connected to the BC 9500 with MCL cable (two 3-pin plugs to the Speakers 2  sockets on the BC) - into the 8-pin MCL socket on the speaker. (they are assembled in a Junction-box)

Questions:

To keep it this way (the MCL socket on the speaker) is it possible to just change the cable with the two 3-pin plugs to a round DIN plug (7- or 8-pin)?
And shall I then use the AUX on the BS 3000 - or one of the Powerlink sockets?
Or should we simply rewire with Masterlink..?

Hi Steffen,

get a B&O MCL-2P It's a powerful amplifier Box which is connected via powerlink to the BS2300/3000 and with 2 3-Pin DIN Plugs to the cabling to the LCS9000.

The box is about the size of a shoe box (depends on your feet Wink ) and can be hidden nicely in a cupboard or somewhere else. The cheaper MCL-2P (see here for 1741) will be enough for this task but the more expensive ML/MCL Converter (see here) or the Beolink Passive (see here) would work too.

Using the straight  ML way is possible but needs a new cabling and the reprogramming of the LCS9000 to use the ML connector instead of the MCL connection. It depends on the local interior situation (Cables  behind or in the walls, or on top).
