Hi All,

I am new to this forum. Can Any one help me with a problem that i have with my Beolab 8000.

My setup:

Playmaker

Beolab 8000-using propreitary cables.

I use airplay most of the time.

It recently started to make a buzzing noise when it turns ON from standby , ie; when the light changes from red to green.

buzzing noise is only when its playing music, that it when its on green light.

If it was off completely for some time and if i turn it on , its fine , but the buzzing noise will come up eventually.

I have already checked by swapping speaker cable and the noise sticks with one speaker.

I was also told by some of my mates that it could be faulty caps.

Can Any one help please

Welcome to Beoworld.

How old are the speakers?

It could be a number of things - power supply/transformer issue, capacitors, speaker failure, PCB fault etc. Can you identify where the buzzing is actually coming from? Is it actually out of one or more drivers or from the base where the amplifier, power supply is?

Sounds like a trip to the service shop.

Dave.

Thanks Dave for your quick reply.

it is very OLD as i got it second hand , dont know excatly.

I am pretty sure that the sound is coming from the speakers.

even i think so that it needs a service, however thought of asking few people who ahev expertise with B&o Systems.

Try searching the forum. Just type in 'Beolab 8000' in the search field and see what there is. There have been a few threads recently on hum or buzz on these speakers with a few different solutions. It may give you a clue as to what may need to be done.

It could well be the problem of the internal sealing/foam rotting onto the PCB. I suspect an internal inspection is needed.
