Hello all,
I’m reading you a lot but today is my first post on BeoWorld!
I'm the happy owner of a pair of BeoLab 20 MKII. They are connected to a BeoSound Essence and a BeoLab Transmitter 1 and work wirelessly.
I had a lot of interferences between my Wi-Fi network (AirPort Extreme 802.11ac) and my BeoLab Transmitter 1. I wanted to check firmwares updates, and I found on the B&O website the version 1.1.0.3065 for the BeoLab Transmitter.
I was hopping to fix the interference problems. So I decided to proceed with the update.
I used an USB key to update the BeoLab Transmitter 1. The BeoLab 20 have been updated as well (it was in the update package).
Since the update, I don’t have any interference anymore. I’m really happy.
But the problem comes from the BeoLabs. I have the model with the highlighted Bang & Olufsen logo. It looks fantastic, but since the update the logo doesn’t shine anymore. Even when my speakers are playing.Instead, I’ve the green light in the back of the acoustic lenses (like the MKI model).
So I have the feeling something went wrong with the update.
Or I think, the update was not for the MKII but for the MKI. So I've the feeling I downgraded my setup instead of upgrading it.
Could you give me your opinion about it?
Moreover, do you know where we can check what is the last FW version of the BeoLab 20 and the BeoLab Transmitter 1? Just to be sure I’m running the last ones.
Thank you,
Florian
Apart from the light, do you notice a difference in sound or behavior?
Have you contacted Beocare, or your local dealer to enquire?
Furthermore, I'm curious how you updated the SW on the speaker? Is that through the Beosetup app? Essence? Does the speaker have a USB port? (I'm unfamiliar), if there was an "update per se" would the update force a downgrade? Obviously you've noticed a change in behavior, so something did happen. Have you tried a reset? (unplug the speakers for a while, and replug?) I'm just grasping at straws of course, curiosity here.
No, I haven't notice any difference in sound.
In term of behavior, the only difference are the lights:Before the update, the logo B&O was turned on when the loudspeaker was playing (the standard behavior of the MKII)After the update, the logo B&O doesn't turn on anymore. But I do see the green light when the loudspeaker starts playing. And the red light when the loudspeakers stops playing (I presume the standard behavior of the MKI).
I did try a reset of the speakers, and a factory reset. Unfortunately, it didn't change the behavior of the lights.I also tried to wired the speakers directly to the BeoSound Essence, but it didn't change anything.I also contacted B&O by the website form, but I've no answer yet. My last solution will be to contact by dealer. But I bought the speakers in France and I'm living in The Netherlands now. Which dealer shall I contact?
Regarding the FW update, I followed these instructions: http://bogo.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10236/
If you open the page you sent the link for (bogo.custhelp). You can use the 'contat us' tab and deal directly with B&O customer help. This may be better than via a dealer. The customer helpdesk is usually very good. I don't know which route you originally took to contact B&O?
It's strange as on the product support page, there is no update for the Beolab 20 listed, it is only for the Beolab Transmitter 1, which then does the update to the speakers. If you had no orange lights, it should be correctly installed.
Dave.
As far as I remember the update of the speakers is done along with the WiSA transmission.
N.B. I couldn't find the documentation of this right now - maybe someone else knows more.
But it will be interesting to hear the answer from Struer, since it is the first time, that I have heard of an update of the (WiSA) speakers.
