Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me I am considering replacing my Essence with a Cambridge Audio CXN streamer the unit is advertised with the following

BUILT-IN DIGITAL PRE-AMP - JUST ADD ACTIVE SPEAKERS!

If you're seeking quality hi-fi from a minimal system then the built-in digital pre-amp will appeal. Simply add active speakers via the digital or analogue outputs and you'll be able to control the volume and balance via the CXN.

Could anyone advise me if this is possible with my Beolab 5s and what cable/adaptors I need to purchase to facilitate this,

That looks to be a nice piece! It gets very good reviews for sound quality and build.

With all of the outlet options available I'm sure it should work with the BL5's. However, you could contact Steve at Sounds Heavenly via his advert below and ask him which cables you will need to use. One issue is often the sensing of signal to turn on and off the speakers. Steve can deal with all of that.

Dave.

Use the SPDIF out from the Cambridge and set the Beolab 5 to Option 1 or Option 4.

The Beolab 5 accepts any digital resolution up to 24-bit, 96 kHz.
