I have a Beovision Avant 32 DVD (no serie 17521590) for years (20) and it has always worked perfectly. Yesterday the machine was blocked and does not function with the remote control nor with built-in controls. The display shows, sometimes, TV but is not placed in the predetermined position and the display does not lights. Nor is it possible to access the menu.
Is there anything I can do or the device is now dead for life?

Having had your TV for 20 years I am sure you have checked the usual failure issues with the Avant, but at the risk of stating the obvious, has your power been off or the TV unplugged for more than 30 minutes, needing a PIN entry? If the PIN is incorrectly entered ( which could just amount to 3 presses of the Beo4) then the TV will have gone into WAIT mode. Try the PIN entry after about 6 hours or leaving overnight.
There is also a masterswitch on the front of the TV, bottom right of the screen. This can get pressed accidentally by someone trying to move the TV or by a younger member of a household spotting the switch which is only really visible from floor level.

Thanks, but none of these is the solution. The device remains inoperative after pressing any button and I am only able to show the sign TV on the display, without anything more happening.
