Hello, very sorry up front as we don't know anything about B&O products.  We had a sudden tragic death in the family last week (extremely unfortunate timing given the holidays), and he had what looks like a Beovision10 in his place.  The cleanup needed to be so fast and so no one bothered to check how the tv was set up, we just took everything apart and just moved it out.  There is no manual and we don't have any cables in the back.  Essentially, now we can't figure out how to use this TV, no one in our family wants it as it is extremely heavy and at this point useless.  I am trying to figure out how this tv works, before our family makes a final decision to donate it.

We don't watch cable tv, so we thought we can use a digital antenna via F-connector in the back, but there is no plug for F-connector anywhere!  Is there something that we are missing here?  TV can't be used to watch free-to-air channels?  Do we need a special connector to make this tv work?

It is a very stressful time for us so we haven't had a chance to study this tv much, although we spent an hour on it and gave up.  We are all much more familiar with plug-and-play tvs.  Thank you for any help/guidance you can give.

thank you.  yes, we looked at the user guide link and it looks like the tv is pre-Aug 2010 version.  so we checked the user guide and there was no place to plug aerial f-connector, whereas it seems that the tv post-Aug2010 version has "aerial" plug along the panel (per picture in the user guide).  does this mean this tv is useless at this point?

Hi jrrider,

Welcome to beoworld. I'm sorry to hear about the death in your family.

There are a number of Beovision models with a similar design - the BeoVision 5, 10 and 11 all look similar, so the first thing to determine is that we are discussing the correct television. There should be a label, either on the rear of the television, or underneath the cloth speaker cover. If you can locate this and post the details from this label it should help to narrow things down.

Also, which part of the world are you located in? there are some differences between European and US spec BeoVisions and the television transmissions standards obviously vary geographically too.

Kind Regards,

Martin.

Thanks very much.  We will take any help right now from the experts.

I just looked in the back and it said Beovision 10 40, it is a 40" TV.  We live in the US.  When I reviewed the user guide(s), the back panel picture looks like the version in the "pre August 2010".  There is no aerial plug along the panel.  The other Beovision 10 (post 2010) panel seems to have aerial plug in the back.

Okay, yes, it looks like the US model BV10 (at least the pre-2010 version) lacks any in-built tuner. This is presumably because cable & satellite are the prevalent means of reception in the US and terrestrial reception using an aerial (antenna) is less common, but I'm UK based so I don't have any direct experience / knowledge in this regard - I'm not even sure whether US terrestrial transmissions are analogue or digital.

I'm sure one or more of the US members will be able to advise as to what options exist (such as suitable external tuners).

Martin.

I am in the US and have a BV 10 that was purchased in 2010 or earlier. I use it with a satellite box connected by HDMI.

A cable box or other source could also be used.

@jrrider

Do you perhaps have a DVD or Blu Ray player at home.

If so - then you could connect this to the tv...

....and enjoy the 'new' tv, untill you get hold on the right external box for tv viewing.

Feel free to ask again, if you have problems connecting the device/s.
