Hi there,

Ive recently become the proud owner of a beogram 5500 vinyl deck, Ive been trying to purchase a matching amp but it is difficult.

I wanted to check if you guys know of any contemporary amps that will be compatible with the DIN input or do I need to buy both a DIN to phono adaptor and the receiver box for the MMC4 stylus. Best case scenario would be that an amp was available say in richer sounds that would allow me to just connect the DIN cable directly and voila........

Grateful for any help.

Hi,

Welcome to Beoworld.

You say you are looking for a 'matching amp'. Why not just buy the matching 5500 tuner/amp? That would be a much cheaper option than trying to find a similar performing modern amp and has all the benefits of offering an aesthetic match as well as an electronic one.

Where are you located, by the way?

Hi,

Thanks for your response, I'm located in Newcastle upon Tyne.

I have tried to get a matching amp, however I'm cautious with Ebay and when I have found one worth bidding for I've not succeeded.

My local BnO shop has a Beogram amp, however it's a different series to my 5500 and its 3 X the size, also curved which would make staking impossible.

I guess I'll look into finding a matching amp.

As said the aesthetics would be fantastic.

Regards.

One potential 'downside' of the Beomaster 5500 is the need for a remote - it has no direct means of changing sources or adjusting volume, tone controls etc. The best bet would probably be a Beolink 1000 as these often turn up on eBay at sensible prices. Alternatively, the MCP5500 would be perfect but is likely to be more expensive and is nowhere near as robust.

Good luck

Get a Beomaster 5000. It's a better sounding amp and will be cheaper and easier to find.

Lee makes a good point.  It is a (marginally) better sounding amp, will still offer an aesthetic match and has the added advantage of offering manual control of all the basic functions.
