Helle, I am new to this. Apologies therefore if there is already a thread on this which I should have been aware off.
I have a beosystem 2 MkIII connected to a Beovision 4. We have historically only used this with sources connected by scart with works fine. My son has now got an Xbox One which I have connected to the VGA input (HD). For sound connection i have used the optical out on the xbox with a converter to digital S/PDIF and attached to the S/PDIF input (3) on the Beosystem associated with the VGA socket. The problem is I get no sound at all? IWhen connecting the sound to S/PDIF sockets 1 and 2 with AV/V.MEM the result is the same - no sound comes out. To test the converter I tested the sockets with the digital coax output from an old DVD player. I could get no sound through 1, 2 or 3 either with that solution. I am no expert at all but would think this suggests a hardware fault with the S/PDIF inputs on the Beosystem itself? If so can this be repaired? ( I understand from my local B&O dealer they can not get parts for this anymore). Any help/suggestions welcome.
If I recall correctly, there is an option when setting up the sources (in the options) to select the video input + the audio input - so the xbox would connect directly to the screen and the audio would connect via the SP/DIF - that's how I connected my Sky+ HD up anyhow. The sound was picked up correctly and the video went straight to the screen without going through the Beosystem 2
Many Thanks for help - I don't however seem to have that option on my Beosystem. I can select video input and link audio input on the Beovision 7 fx but not on the Beosystem?
Can you recommend a place to have the system fixed if a hardware fault? Thanks
SPDIF 1 = AV
SPDIF 2 = VTAPE
IF VTAPE = VMEM or NONE, then SPDIF 2 = DECODER.
See Referencebook.
Check also, if Output can be changed to differenz dolby types or PCM/Bitstream to get sound.
