Apart from the satisfaction of restoration of Beomasters and the like as a hobby, is it a reality that, even if not used, the electronic components inside will deteriorate again over time?

From that viewpoint would it be better to regard older B&O products as just display/ talking pieces and source our music from new production, be it B&O or some other manufacturer?

All hardware deteriorates. Actual hardware even faster than stuff from the 80ies...

I prefer hardware from the eighties to beginning nineties. This stuff can be repaired easily and the documentation is perfect, electronic parts from this period are easy to get and replace ... and even in better qualitiy than before.

My BM7000, Overture and other hardware from this time will even work in 2030 or 2040. No problem, it's just some work and little money.

Since i rebuild and modify them to audiophil status, they sound even better than any actual system on the market. At least not to buy for this price...
