Hello everyone

Maybe a stupid thing mainly because I already have a Beosound Ouverture and other équipements... but I recently bought a small beolit 505 radio.

It is still dirty but it works very well and sound is more than correct for its size and age !

There is a 5 pin DIN for tape out.

I wonder if could connect a beocord tape ? I've found a cheap beocord 1101 but I do not know if I can record FM on it.

Thank you.

Franck

Playback of tape through the 505 ampli is not possible. Let's say it is a pure B&O addict question.

Hi all,

I think nobody tested this Tape Out from BL505 or equivalent ?

I found 2 old beocord 1100 and 1101 (the same only finishing is different, one black and one alu) normally in working condition even if some small damages.

I think I will buy one of them and make the trial.

Will let you know....

Have a nice day

Franck

Yes it will work, all you need is a suitable cable. The result will obviously be in mono.

Thanks Mika, Ok in mono but it is not an issue because it is to record some old jazz and classical music that one FM radio here are playing. Guess I need to look at bl505 and beocord maintenance manual to wire the good cable or a standard 5 pin Din will be ok ? If you have any advises for this cable thanks to share it would be great. Use your Ouverture to record from tuner to cassette.  No cable necessary..

A standard 5 pin din should be fine. I sometimes use a BG1000 playing out of my Beolit 800 and it actually sounds really nice!

Before anybody wonders... the reason why you cannot play back using the Beolit 505 as an amplifier is that the function is selected by pressing two band selector buttons down at the same time. Beolit 505 and some other colouradio models are FM only, thus they don't have the needed buttons and switch contacts!

Yes sure I can use my Ouverture but says it is maybe nostalgie to remember some old days...at least I enjoy to clean and try to use old devices. If I knew electronic I think I would enjoy to fix old broken radio.

So the beocord is only "for fun".

My next radio I would try to find at good price is the BL1000... to try to plug in/out tape, beogram and so on. But those are rare and expensive.

I found on beocord 1101 with DIN cable but with some pbs to fix. I think I will try with it.

Cheers

Franck
