Good evening chaps,
until this afternoon, i was under the impression that all Beogram Turntables with Powerlink connectivity, would be compatible with all Beocenters having same !
I tried to connect my recently aquired and well maintained (apart from dirty needle) Beogram 4500 to my Beocenter 9500.
With the BC in PHONO mode, as soon as needle hits Vinyl, the Beolabs let-off an ear-piercing Crackle at perhaps close to full volume, fully independent of any BC volume-setting.
What am I doing wrong ? or has this to do with the on-board RIAA Pre-Amp in the Beogram 4500 ??
I'll be gutted if it is !
I thought I'd blown my speakers at one point. !!
The Beogram works fine with the rest of the 4500 range.
I'll be indebted for any help / workarounds on this one 'cos I'm stumped.
Cheers for now
Zorb.
The Beocenter 9500 has a built in RIAA pre amp on the Phono input and the Beogram 4500 has the same. Thus they are not compatible!
You can plug the Beogram into the AUX socket having first removed pins 6 and 7 in the DIN plug. The Beogram should then play normally although the Datalink will not work.
Regards Graham
OK !
As I had little to lose but another sack of Euronen, I messed around with all perceivable Socket / Setting combinations, and found (to my genuine embarrassment) that the BC needs to be in AUX mode with the BG plugged into AUX socket. The PHONO socket & setting seemed just too logicle at the time. Apologies !!!
Anyways -nothing's straight- forward anymore. But my Vinyl's pulling through again ?:~}
Thanks Graham.
You posted while I was writting. All works well now, as you suggested, only the remote (BEOLINK 5000) has no effect except for Volume control.
Any thoughts on a workaround with a Beolink apreciated.
Best wishes
Zorb
