My CD 3300 suffers from a well known problem, I think. The cd spins for a few seconds, then stops and the display shows a ?.

I have looked around i the Forum for a solution and decided that I'll replace C2103 on the servo board. I'm not a skilled technicianso my first problem is to locate the servo board. My guess is that it is the big one. Am I right?

Servo board?

Hi,

If memory serves the servo board is located underneath the one you show!

I think you have to lift this one to access it. Do not by any means be tempted to touch the adjustable resistor!

I have tried to lift the board after removing the 4 noticeable screews, but it seems to be stuck in the end closer to the heat sinks. I don't want to use to much force and I can't figure out what keeps it in place.

There is no service manual for the CD 3300 on Beoworld that can help me, only scematics.

Riis, don't get me wrong...
You are doing exactly the same in the Beomaster 2000 thread;
- Guessing.

No, the servo board is not the large board. It's the one with the largest cut corner.
Do you know what the servo board does? And why we point at it as a potential culprit?

The service manuals won't tell you how to repair something. They tell you how the machine was made, how to adjust and align things and in
some cases how to gain access to certain parts.
The manual assumes you have the skills, tools and instruments to diagnose based on this.
And with the proper education and experience - you can.

Electronics mechanic is a 3½ year long education with a mix of school and practical work.
We can give you some guidelines and help you diagnose etc. and we can point you to what our experience tells us, but we cannot educate you here.
You will have to read up on something yourself. That will also help you understand things better and you will know what you are doing and why. :-)

Oops!

I've just checked mine. I did have to replace a few caps, the one on the servo board (at right then) was not the only culprit. I also had to adjust a few other things (you need measuring tools) before it worked properly.

Martin is right of course, so unless you don't care much at all about this CD 3300, or it is in bad cosmetic condition, it is not the easiest device for learning electronics!

Also, if you choose to replace that blue Philips cap, be extremely careful with the printed flat ribbon cables.

Thanks Martin and Jacques for your kind advice. I know my knowledge of electronics is very limited, but every time I get an answer in this forum I get a little bit wiser. So maybe some day, who knows........... :-).
