Dear friends of beoworld!
Considering a Beocenter9500 (or 9300) - if I have read correctly one has to connect Beovox speakers; is it possible to connect every other passive speaker as well?
Is Beocenter able to read ir commands from Beo4?
Thanks, best regards Elmar
Hello Elmar,
Both questions: yes.
Proved with my Beocenter 9500
Chris
Both work with any brand passive speaker (you will need a speakerlink connector) including Beovox, and B&O active speakers with power link connection. This era of B&O system is the most flexible and in some ways desirable because it can power both passive and active. The big difference is that only the 9500 will work in two way mode with the two way remotes Beolink 5000 and Beolink 7000. (these remotes can be set to one way mode, but then what is the point). Both the 9300 and 9500 will work with the Beo 4 and Beolink 1000. In my opinion the combination of the Beolink 7000 remote and BC 9500 is the Apex of B&O style and integrated design.
Hi.
Both systems are favourites on this site. I have a 9300 and had it connected to passive Mission speakers for a while, which it handled very well - now have BL8000's connected to it.
The 9500 is a better spec'd machine, having 2way remote and internal RIAA for record decks. It has been reported here that it has a better internal amp than the 9300 for passive speakers, but I'm not sure if this is correct. I certainly thought the 9300 amp was satisfactory, and I have been very pleased with the 9300 having owned it for over 5 years. Both are, arguably , the pinnacle of B&O design being stunning looking.
As stated, both work fine with Beo4.
Regards,
Graeme.
Thanks to all for your quick and detailed answers!
Seems that the Beocenter has been the best "all in one product" regarding active and passive speakers;
speakerlink connectors might be available from Steve (sounds heavenly)
Elmar
You only need 2 pin din plugs for passive speaker connection, with good quality cable. Steve will have this.
These machines are getting old now. When you find one check both doors open smoothly and both cd and tape play ok before buying. Tape player may need new belts, a common fault due to lack of use.
Good luck finding one .
