Dear BeoSound Experts
I have recently acquired a BeoSound 5 system with 2 Encores and have ripped all my music collection onto the Beomaster which occupies about 170Gig as MPEG Layer 3 Audio files. I then took a backup copy onto an external hard drive for security.
I am wondering if there is a portable device onto which I could copy all or most of the collection so I can enjoy it whilst traveling? From what I can see most devices would require the files to be converted to another format before they could be played but I am hoping that some amongst the forum may be able to point me towards an easier solution or a compatible product.
Thanks in anticipation
Martin
I personally recommend one of the current high resolution audio players. They can play MP3 files, too.I'm using the Sony NWZ-ZX1 with 128GB Memory and Bang & Olufsen H3 headphones and I love it!As you have 170GB I would suggest Sony NWZ-ZX100 (128GB + microSD cardslot):http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/walkman/nw-zx100-seriesYou can insert a microSD card with up to 128GB according to Sony. But as some people reported in audio forums 200GB cards work as well. The ZX100 has digital noise cancelling integrated into the device, too. This function only works with the supplied headphones. You can use every headphone you want to listen to music but then there's no digital noise cancelling. It has its own Sony operation system for Walkman and works easy and fine. No touchscreen.
The bigger brother NWZ-ZX2:http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/walkman/nw-zx2This one has 128GB internal memory and a microSD card slot which works with 200GB cards, too. This player is Android based and has a touchscreen.Pioneer XDP-100r:http://www.pioneer-audiovisual.eu/eu/def/products/xdp-100rThe Pioneer has 2 microSD card slots with each supporting up to 200GB. This player is Android based and has a touchscreen, too.
If you need a small(er) device for traveling, you should go for the ZX100.
The Sony devices show up as a simple USB drive on your computer which means that you can copy your 170GB library 1:1 over to the mobile player. The ZX1 (Sony), ZX2 (Sony) and the ZX100 (Pioneer) are Android based and can be used/operated like an Android smartphone. But don't expect them to be as fast in operation as modern top smartphones. You can install android apps on these devices like e.g. spotify, DLNA remotes or whatever you want. They all have physical buttons which work fine and are a pleasure to use, even when the display is off.The Pioneer has the most recent Android Version installed - if this is important for you.
