Hi, I have a MMC without tip or stylus (see the attached photo). Can this be repaired by the right experts? Or is it a lost cause? I actually do not know if this part even works...

I don't know which MMC it used to be, because I got it like this. Can it be turned into any of the range?

Thanks!

If the coils are good, it can be rebuilt to any spec.

Thanks for the quick reply, that is good news! Can this be done by these guys: https://www.schallplattennadeln.de/mmc-repair-english.html. I found them through Beoworld. Or are there others?

PS my apologies Martin for my very slow reaction on the RL tweeter and components for BM5500, I will really get back to you Smile

Axel repaired an MMC2 of mine in the same condition. Apart from the cut in the body, you would not have been able to tell it from new.

Hi,

Axel is no longer repairing B&O pickups, He gave the business to the guy that helped him all the years:

Axel has a lot to do with other brands. I'm waiting nearly 6 months now for a thorens moving-coil now

Yes as long as the coils are ok it can be refurbished, also there are plenty of spare end parts in stock so that can be replaced at the same time, current average turnaround 2 weeks

"cut to the body". I have an MMC4000 with open circuit on one channel an planning to open it but how; is the only way to cut the body with Dremel and clue it back together? Is the cut made in top and bottom, would make more sense than on sides? Any experince, success or fails, contribute. Ari

The cut is merely a few milimeters to the bottom side near the tip.
It's made to gain access to the cantilevers rubber suspension inside the front portion of the cartridge.

The whole cartridge is not opened.  This is quite difficult - not impossible but difficult - and repairs to broken coils is often impossible.
