Chris Hassell:Am I missing something here, one command HAS to happen to get to the other??
Although I don't know all of the long press commands, based solely on STANDBY, I don't think that long pressing sends any other commands before or other than the one for the long press. For example, short pressing the DARK DOT at 6'O'clock pauses the music. Long press = Standby. If the Short/Quick Click command was sent before standby, the music would immediately stop / pause, rather than fading out which it does with the long press. I hope this helps.
Hi Chris,
I just got a second Essence remote and I am trying to capture scenes as my wife does not understand the Alexa commands. How do I set this up in the gateway as trigger? I am a noob sorry.

Chucky,
Do you perhaps mean "trigger" scenes rather than "capture" scenes? The Essence remote can trigger BLGW scenes by putting it in "LIGHT" mode. The details for the various modes are under the technical inspiration section of the beointegration.com site. You must program the corresponding B&O "LIGHT" commands as triggers for your macros in the BLGW setup.
The key mapping is as follows:
LIGHT FUNCTION 20 = Essence Sound
LIGHT FUNCTION 21 = Essence Sound Continuous
LIGHT FUNCTION 22 = Essence Next
LIGHT FUNCTION 23 = Essence Next Continuous
LIGHT FUNCTION 24 = Essence Off
LIGHT FUNCTION 25 = Essence All Off
LIGHT FUNCTION 26 = Essence Previous
LIGHT FUNCTION 27 = Essence Previous Continuous
LIGHT STEP DOWN= Essence Volume Wheel Down Single Press
LIGHT CONTINUOUS STEP DOWN= Essence Volume Wheel Down Single Press
LIGHT STEP UP= Essence Volume Wheel Up Single Press
LIGHT CONTINUOUS STEP UP= Essence Volume Wheel Up Continuous Press
Thanks! Works well except the weel.
I want a remote on the table for the essence in the kitchen to turn on the lights 4 scenes and the Essence and control the wheel. Basicly the same function out of the box in BT mode but adding 4 light scenes. Therefor I use Function 22/23/26/27. Maybe not the best but any suggestion is welcome;)
Command
Global/Kitchen/AV renderer/Essence MKII/Volume adjust?Command=Step Down
I find it not really responsive so I have added 7 times the same command delayed with 100ms. The other Essence remote in BT mode works way better.
Also played with the skylights and the remote but it is to tricky I will probably blow out a motor. On a Beo 4 with joystick it works well. Also in the Beolink 2 app. But the commands on the Essence remote are not really always correct. (Could be me)

Remember that the LIGHT mode is IR and needs a clear path to a B&O IR receiver to transmit the command. If you are trying to dim or increase the light level using the continuous wheel function, it's a bit more difficult that you might think. It needs a combination of macros.
Chris, this will not work.
I have faced absolutely the same behavior of the Essense (Here in Russian, sorry). The thing is that when you set the delay, the BLGW will anyway send two commands, but the first one (short) with delay, that will make the result even more messy. I was thinking to use the KEY_RELEASE parameter - that would help coping with the first command, but for some reasons (do not remember) it did not work either.
I have agreed to live with the situation, that If I need to choose the long command (N.Music in my case) it will first send the short command (TV). In this particular setup it is not a big issue for me. The intention was to use Essence as arm-chair specific remote for TV with limited functionality (switching between channels and change the volume. Short press on a black dot makes mute, and long - standby)
