Forum members,

I want to buy a B&O Playmaker to replace my Marantz NR1602 receiver (connected to Beolab 8000 mkII's in the living room).
I want to connect it directly to my (non b&O) tv (so all audio that normally goes to the tv, goes to the playmaker).
Is this possible without audio delay?
Which way is best to connect it? Using the spdif output on the television, using a digital to annalog converter an connect the analog cinch cables to the Playmakers analog input?

I also want to use it to play my Spotify songs on the available Iphones/Ipads around the house, using Airplay. I've read that the (airplay) audio quality is very good, using the playmaker (good dacs), is this correct? (for example: better than an Airport Express)

I also have mp3 and flacs on my Synology NAS. Which app can I use to play these through the Playmaker (and do I use Airplay or DLNA for this)?

I read something about a MK1 and MK2 version, what are the differences and how can I see these differences when looking for a (second hand) Playmaker?

Which way is easiest to control the volume? Using a Beo (4) remote or using the app?
(at this point I don't have a beo remote)

Does the auto-source-switching function always work?
(I want it to switch between the activated sources automatically )

Is it possible (if I buy two Playmakers) to use them in a multiroom setup?
Because I have two extra Beolab 6000's in the kitchen (now connected to 'zone2' on the marantz).

PS: a second hand seller gave me the serial number of his Playmaker.

How to see if it is mk1 or mk2?

Thanks. Found something about type numbers on that topic:

Playmaker mark1 = type number 2930 - 2931

Playmaker mark2 = type number 2970 - 2971

im going ta ask the seller.

It has type number 2970. So a mk2.

This 100% means NO FLAC support?

And another question: If I buy a beo4 remote, to control volume, do I need to aim the remote to the playmaker or can I place the playmaker out of sight?

Hi, you will need some line of site for the remote to work and you can control the volume on the playmaker as well. You can also skip tracks using a Beo4 and adjust the bass and treble. I replaced an AE and Cambridge DACMagic with a playmaker and have been very happy with it as I now have an input for my turntable

If you use a toslink to DAC converter and plug that into the aux sockets, the playmaker will automatically switch to the TV sound and then streaming music will over ride it - you'll also need special leads to go from the playmaker to the speakers - Steve at Soundsheavenly can provide these.

I have a MK1, but I don't use flac. So if you want to change with me, just send me a message.as long as that is the only difference between the PM's.
