Hi,

Just bought the Beosound 8 witht the new airplay feature.

I updated the software in the Beosound and it connects to my wireless network as it should, but when I try using it the connection to my iPhone is terrible. It doesn´t work properly. it seems the Beosound and the iPhone has real problems conncting?

Anybody have the same problem?

How would the signal be affected by placing it on the floor vs a table or on the wall?

Thanks for any input.

Henrik

I do believe that problem was solved in February with the iPhone 4s.  Speak to Chris about this B&O problem...

I'm just off to Apple to get an Airport Express, or whatever they recommend for boosting the signal. Had Beolit upstairs last night and it worked(kind of) on the second floor, but try the same through a wall........

Thanks for all input, i have used the Airport express without problems connected to my 90's Century stero and works perfect. I am not keen on conecting the airport to the new Beosound, it that is what it takes I'll return it to the store.

Heppe, I think what Chris means is connect the Airport express to ur modem and se the Airport Express to send WiFi around your crib as it amplifies the signal better. You don't have to connect it directly to the A8.

Well if that's true, and I believe you, shame on B&O for releasing a product that utilises such a flakey medium. It's now 01.46 here and after 3 hours I have finally got my time capsule set up as the wireless network, to try and resolve my constant signal drop/poor reception problems.

3 feet away, reception "marginal" 10 feet away "poor". Again useless. I'm not spending anymore money trying to get a bloody radio to work, when all else blazes away at 16 Mbps! I'll try my dealer as it might(it shouldn't it's B&O and costs £600) be a duff friday night model or whatever they call it in China.

My mum has an old radio that works flawlessly so maybe I can borrow that. It has "made in Denmark" on it. Maybe that's why?

Ps Tried the new brilliant B&W P3 headphones today. They are cheaper and better than the old P5's. Look good too.

Chris, please, not this again. As I've said many times before, the Chinese don't take a B&O (or Apple) design think "we'll swap some parts out" and somehow replace the components with lesser items. Just because it's made in China, it doesn't mean that the components change. If anything, this is B&O compromising on components to save money, not the manufacturing process.

Sorry, but when I read these "Chinese are at fault!" comments, it just disappoints me - it's the kind of naivety that drives middle-aged people in to a B&O store, paying over the odds, thinking that they won't get find issues with their products. Sadly paint chipping on V1s, wifi issues on V1s, faulty BV7s, are all products that were made in Denmark and they still have issues.

I doubt they wanted to introduce AirPlay but did they have a choice?  Go back a couple of years and look at all the threads slating the BeoSound 8 for not having the emporors new clothes of technology built in.  Wifi stuff is unstable, especially when a company need to accept that the products will be used by thousands of people who look after their own wifi setup, have neighbours with wifi on different channels, have different brands of router etc.

To call this a B&O problem seems unfair.  Every airply product has review from people saying its brilliant next to people who have never made the thin work.  That's every product from every brand, the common theme being people's networks are different.   It would seem that by implementing an all apple wifi the problems are reduced.

Een the poster higher up states his bl12 works 100% from his laptop, but not his phone or iPad.  How is that a b&O problem.

All the airplay problems I had vanished when I paid an IT guy to spend 90 minutes sorting my network out

Personally I use Airfoil, an iPad 3, and multiple iPhone 4S's through out my house with a Playmaker, BeoLit 12 and multiple Apple TV's and don't have a single problem.  You should look no further than your network configuration.  Somewhere along the line people assumed that Airplay works flawlessly because Apple put their name on it ... and quite honestly that couldn't be more wrong.

By the way someone mentioned "marginal" WiFi with the a8 being only a few feet from the router.  Try raising the router to a higher spot at least just temporarily.  I'm willing to bet you're getting electrical interference from somewhere that's affecting the range of your wifi.
