My tv is 6 years old, some 12000-13000 viewing hours only and I have been advised that the loss of picture requires a new screen but spares are not available. Any views please on the short screen life and any knowledge of B & O not keeping spares over such a short period?

Hi,

I assume you have a Mk4?  This is a known issue and a temporary fix was to replace the panel with one from a BeoVision 10 along with some little adaptions and spacers.

However, there are no BV10 panels left, so sadly you've now got a very expensive door stop....

I'd try and sell it for spares. The Blu-Ray drive is saleable and can be retro fitted to a Mk3.

Bad news, I know.

Hi Lee

Many thanks for your prompt answer.

Can you say when the problem was first identified please and how common was the incidence.

Are there specialist dealers who will dismantle for spares?

Thanks

Sanray

Good afternoon,

What causes this problem exactly? Is the LCD panel really worn off or is it merely some electronic component in some embedded PCB that fails? For the former, nothing can be done, but for the latter a repair at the component level is certainly thinkable. I own a BV 7-40 Mk3 and it still works well after almost 9 years of service but I am curious about this problem on the Mk4.

Regards,

Jean
