We recently acquired a beocenter 9000. We were going to harvest it for parts for another beocenter as we were assumed it was in poor condition (poor images on ebay, listed as broken, images showed lower glass panel missing etc). Won it for £25!Get it home to find the case is totally mint, not a scratch, the tape which we were told was broken worked fine after a bit of fettling. Remote worked fine. Re glued the lower glass panel and the buttons work perfectly. Why does nobody bother to do this, its such an easy job. Aside from the CD!... When we first got the 9000 home it didn't do anything and would reject the CD, after several tries and cleaning the lens carefully it plays for a bit maybe the first 30-60 seconds perfectly happily, reads the tracks. Then starts to worble and skip. Any idea what is wrong with it? I have decided not to scrap it of course, and if nothing else I will use it as a phone connection into the aux in the study/radio/tape and as a backup system into some CX50s or something or when my beomaster 8000 fails constantly.
Thankyou for any help :)
The cd could be 2 things....
First change the C2103 Cap, it is very easy, it is on the PCB direct under the CD Drive.. this should be done always.
Look at these images.

The second thing that might be wrong, is the small black "rubber" part of the spindle. This is used to keep the disc centered so it will not move "around" the spindle while turning fast. This black strip looses its grip over time, and if the cd or spindle is worn, the disc moves and the laser cannot focus.
I use som black "rough" tape, and cuts a ring out and places it on top of the old black ring. This works perfectly :)
