As a new member I have a somewhat stupid question:

My the glass door of my BeoSound 9000 after 18 years of loyal services came off its upper hinge, the only authorized repair shop has quoted 360$ for a new glass door and +85$ for installation fee (CDN$).

Is this quote reasonable and do you guys think the existing glass door can it be glued ? If so, what kind of glue?

Thanks in advance

The answer to your second question if you want to go the DIY route is the epoxy / adhesive that auto windshield installers use to glue windshields to cars might be something appropriate.

The answer to your first -- I don't know how much that smoked glass panel costs, but the likelihood of it actually costing $360 is pretty high being that it is B&O. Perhaps you can source a broken or for parts BS9000 from eBay, and supply the installer with the glass door and have them just charge you for the installation fee. That way you have another BS9000 for parts if your main unit fails in another way. It'll likely cost about $500US+ but may save you a bit in the long run. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for your answer, the authorized B&O repair center is quite stiff about using  parts from other sources, if the gluing option doesn't work I will look into finding another repair shop.

But again, if every option fails, I will have to get the new glass door...

I wanted to be clear, my suggestion about using auto windshield adhesive is pure conjecture. Use at your own risk! I have no knowledge of the actual adhesive used by B&O.
