Hello,
I bought this almost the day they came out - so a few years ago now, and I don't think I've ever had a problem with it. However, last week I noticed that once in a while when I made a call, when the other end answered my end would cut out after a few seconds.
Since then it has progressed to the moment the other end answers on all calls except automated systems (banks, that type of thing where you have to go through a menu)
I have four handsets with it and it's the same on all of them, so it must be the base unit. I've tried unplugging it for anywhere between a few minutes to overnight, leaving it a while and then trying, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I wondered if there was any kind of reset (??) that might do the trick. Unfortunately a lack of finances is stopping me taking it into B&O now, so any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
David
I was in a similar "boat" where we bought a setup of 5 phones from new(4 Beocom 6000s and a Beocom 2 and the pyramid Base unit). About 3 months ago we had problems where when the phones rang you would pick up the living room phone, press the button to take the call and it would cut out and the screen go blank. The phones would remain ringing so we would have to run to the dining room to get the call before the answer machine. You had to put it back on the Base to get it to come back on, but the strange thing was you could still make outgoing calls without issues. I tried all sorts but in the end de-registered the handset hoping that might reset but when I tried to re-register it, it asked for a password but I knew I had not put one in. I just couldn't get it to register. As we had a spare handset in the guest room I bought that down and used that. Then the study handset began to play up.
I decided that I would re-set the complete system so wrote down all the contact details and numbers ready to to start from the factory settings. I then thought whilst doing that it may be worth considering getting new batteries for all the handsets as it would be an ideal time to do that. I ordered 4 batteries for the 6000s and put them in the phones. The one from the study stopped playing up and before doing the re-set I tried to register the phone that wouldn't register and it registered first try (without asking for a password) and the system has been as good as new for the last 3 months without the hassle if a full re-set.
Obviously batteries only have a limited life and if they are weakening maybe they stop the phone working at it's best even though the display showed a full charge.
Hi,
That does sound interesting, and if it only the batteries I'll be a happy man.
I tried de-registering everything and resetting it all to factory settings to start again, but it didn't make any difference. I will try getting new batteries though.
Thank you very much,
Hi David,
I wonder if it may be worth just buying 1 new battery and re-setting the system with just the one phone connected to see if it works and is not the Base unit. If that works replace all batteries and set the phones up. That way not a big expense to begin with.
Good luck
Stoobie
Hi Stoobie,
Good idea - why didn't I think of that. Actually you caught me just in time.
Thanks again,
